— February 9&10 2009 —

Late on February the 9th, then a little into the 10th we will see a partial lunar eclipse over Parramatta. Just a penumbral eclipse this time, but worth a look.

This eclipse will not be a dramatic one, but the effect should be visible.
11:44pm Monday 9th Feb The moon enters the penumbral shadow. This will be too subtle too see.
1:29am Tuesday morning, 10th Feb Eclipse maximum. The moon will be visibly darker, especially in the "bottom right-hand corner".
3:36am Tuesday morning, 10th Feb The moon leaves the shadow of the earth. (The eclipse is over.)
We will, of course, attempt to photograph this event. Check back here later. (or not... )The eclipse was hopelessly clouded over.

Our July eclipse gallery also features eclipses in 1999 and 2000 and 2001.
