Kite Aerial Photography
(Page 4) Fourth excursion - processed Friday 11/9/98

- This time accompanied by a story (of sorts.) -

click to enlarge The day started out well. Good enough to yield this silly self-portrait (12k)
click to enlarge The assembly hall, library, car park and surrounds all feature in this shot (37k)
click to enlarge Then, a wind shift. Here we see the kite, line and reel as I struggle to get some lift over the school (12k)
(This is a ground shot)
click to enlarge Looking good. The 12 ft flowform almost disappears over the school in this shot (10k)
(Also a ground shot.)
click to enlarge Lift is not great, though. I barely manage to get this one of a volleyball game in progress. (21k)
click to enlarge Then... (gasp!) ...the wind drops and I'm caught frantically reeling in the line as the kite settles out of sight over the school. (9k)
(Sigh... another ground shot.)
click to enlarge ...and here we can see, to the right of the school, the Coral Flame Tree which, Charlie-Brown-style, ate my kite. (37k)
click to enlarge But... all's well. Kite is retrieved and later on I take this shot of St John's and surrounds in the late afternoon.
This shot features another silly self-portrait (follow the line down to the ground). (30k)
