In early 1916 Victor Harding, student of Parramatta High School, enlisted in the A.I.F.
In February 1918 he was still at the front - profoundly affected by his experiences in battle.
In the June 1918 edition of the PHS School Magazine the following letter appears.

Signaller Harding's letter #1 of 5

"Billjim"

a synonym for "Australian", supposedly on account of the frequency of the names William and James among the early settlers.

Signaller Harding's letter #2 of 5

Signaller Harding's letter #3 of 5

Signaller Harding's letter #4 of 5

Signaller Harding's letter #5 of 5

Signaller Harding survived the war, but was wounded in action - presumably shortly after writing this letter.
