English at Parramatta High School

Private John McCallum, an ex-teacher at Parramatta High, wrote to the school in 1916 while he was on active duty in Egypt. His letter included a reference to Hamlet, reproduced here.
Our founding Headmaster, W.L.Atkins was commonly and affectionately known as "Tommy".
Rudyard Kipling had a bit to say on the significance of this name.
In 1933, George Best was a student in class 1A at PHS. Here is a piece, "The Poet's Pitfalls" which he had published in the School Magazine of August 1933. George was blind from birth.
One of the first two teachers of English at PHS, Miss O.L.Mott, makes an appearance here.
