This Conyne is 2.42m tall by 1.94m wide ( 7'11" x 6'4").
Its frame is 9.5mm and 12mm (3/8" and 1/2") dowel, and the skin is Tyvek.
Here it is sporting twin tails made from ribbon - both about 30m long. Ostensibly the tails are for stability (but in reality they just look good!)
The kite is a few weeks old. The moon, the waxing crescent to the left, is four days old. (November 24, 1998)
The Delta Conyne is derived from this kite. Apparently the Conyne design was developed by the French military during the last century.
This prototype has served its purpose. I find it less tractable than the DC, although still
stable enough in light winds to use as a camera platform. High winds dictate the use of a tail
(or tails), otherwise it tilts over to one side and takes great pleasure in ploughing into the
ground at high speed.
