Joyce Champion, is the one with the cross abover her head... just as her mother wrote on the back of the photo (See below). Parramatta High School were Circlos Premiers for quite a number of years before it was dropped from the competition schedule. What is "circlos" you may ask? Well, just try searching for an explanation on the internet. Not much help I'm afraid. It is a game that was popular on passenger ships and uses the same court as deck tennis. It involves throwing a quoit (a round rubber or rope ring) over a net (similar to a badminton net). The idea is to catch the quoit without letting it fall to the ground. If you want to see the game in action, contact Balgowlah Heights Public School as, according to their Annual School Report, they still play it.
